Nicole Conte Stevens has an extensive background as an educator with a passion for performing arts and the environment. She got the performance bug early watching her mom direct musicals and dad produce TV commercials. She has a BA from Dartmouth College, MS from Antioch University of New England and a Vermont teaching license. She worked for many years for the Vermont Institute of Natural Science's education department.
Nicole loves her work as mother of one, educator of many and community performance artist. She teaches creative dance and drama at ArtisTree and Chandler Center for the Arts. Her programs for after-school enrichment, camps, workshops, family classes and occasional birthday parties, often integrate arts with science learning and outdoor fun. She enjoys performing regularly with Moving Spirit Vermont and the Raqs Salaam Dance Theater. She has also performed with FLOCK Dance Theater (Healing), BarnArts Center for the Arts (Almost Maine) and Summerdance at Pentangle (2013), and through special community showcases with Pilobolus Dance Theater (directors, Matt Kent & Renee Jaworski), Big Action Performance Ensemble at Middlebury and Dartmouth Dance Ensemble (director, John Heginbotham). Nicole will be co-directing the play The Little Prince for BarnArts in 2016. She strives to inspire confidence, joy, creativity and connection, as teacher, director and performer.
