Color Theory in Watercolor …“What’s in Your Palette?”

Learn color theory and color mixing as it uniquely applies to watercolor paint.

ages: Adults

Color theory as it applies to watercolor paint is unique because it is inherently a transparent medium. Many painters reach for colors, not really having a good understanding of why. Come understand how watercolor paint colors mix and work.

Don’t be confused by the new colors that various brands continue to offer, many of them so-called “convenience colors” that are easily mixed from the core colors we should have in our paint supplies. We’ll explore the use of transparent colors versus opaque ones along with the how the rating system works in watercolor paint. Demonstrations and related assignments will be ongoing throughout the class. You will be able to apply the assignments to a variety of subject matter and leave with a greater understanding of how to get the most out of your materials and ideas. Color samples will be available to try in addition to the paints that you bring. The class welcomes painters of all levels.
