Explore the art of making dance for performance through improvisation, solo and group work, and viewing works by major choreographers. This course is based on the work of Rudolf Laban and Doris Humphrey. Music is explored both as inspiration and as time-structure. We will focus on dance as theater, and thus explore a range of theatrical devices including lighting, costume, props and staging. Beginners through experienced dancers are invited; all dance styles are welcome! Class will culminate in a dance performance in the lovely ArtisTree Gallery on April 23.
