This supportive and fun class will focus on basic drawing skills and techniques for representing the observed world and visual ideas in two dimensions. You will develop your ability to keenly “see” what is around you—the most essential first step of drawing—so you can portray accurately and economically what is observed.
Dan will broaden your approach to drawing by using a variety of methods and materials. Having taught drawing at all levels for years at California College of the Arts, he has developed a learning sequence whereby each week’s class builds on the previous one, taking you in a progression from blind contour drawing to contour drawing, to value and chiaroscuro (modeling), to linear perspective, to landscape and figure drawing. We will have an opportunity to work from a live model. Let’s share a passion for drawing in an exciting and nurturing environment.
Class price includes fees for live models.
